The KC series solar modules incorporate EVA pottant with PVF backing laminated
to tempered glass, assembled in an anodised and clear coated aluminium frame and
equipped with a weatherproof junction box.

The heart of the US series modules is the Triple Junction
silicon solar cell unique to United Solar. Each cell is composed of three semiconductor
junctions stacked on top of each other.
The Triple Junction cells are made by depositing the active silicon material on
unbreakable stainless steel sheet metal and then bonded to an additional galvanised
steel backplate, which provides stiffness.
The cells are then encapsulated in UV stabilised polymers and laminated with a
Tefzel clear front surface and then bonded into an anodised aluminum frame, no
glass is used.

The main function of a controller or regulator is to fully
charge a battery without permitting overcharge or reverse current flow at night.
If a solar array is connected to lead-acid batteries with no overcharge protection,
battery life will be compromised.
Simple controllers contain a relay that opens the charging circuit, terminating
the charge at a pre-set high voltage and, once a pre-set low voltage is reached,
closes the circuit again, allowing charging to continue.
More sophisticated controllers utilize pulse-width modulation (PWM) or maximum
power-point tracking (MPPT) to assure the battery is being fully charged in the
